Building Touchpoints for Equity in Higher Education (in-person)

BIPOC/BAME youth are disproportionately affected by social and environmental injustice and are interested in sustainability but face many barriers in accessing the sector. How can we help in higher education?

Join Humber College and Diversity in Sustainability for our first in-person Inclusion Blueprint Dialogue: Building Touchpoints for Equity in Higher Education.

This session is meant for staff and faculty in postsecondary institutions in roles that impact students' academic experience and career prospects in sustainability, and students themselves.

The in-person, three-hour session will provide a space for higher education professionals to connect with one another, discuss their programs and resources, and gain knowledge that can help make the field of sustainability more inclusive, starting with higher education.

A preliminary literature review will be sent to attendees in advance to ground our thinking.

Key questions guiding the session are:

• What unique challenges do you face in admissions, faculty and career services in engaging diverse students in sustainability programs? If it hasn’t been a challenge, why not?

• What have you/your institution been doing specifically to attract, engage in sustainability programs and support diverse students in their job search after graduation?

Lunch will be served at the event.
